SDL CDROM functions trouble.

I recently began writing an RTS game. For this game, I am thinking of using SDL, and, in an effort to become more familiar with it, I tried to create a simple program to play/pause/stop/eject a CDROM from a menu. The problem is, only the playing works (I use SDL_CDPlayTracks to play the entire CD). Once I start it playing, I can still reach the other menu options, but none of them function. When I close the program, it does not stop playing, and I have to eject the CD to stop it. Any clue as to what's wrong?
