I'm working on a game using GLUT, and i'm wondering where to do my game logic calculations. let's take Pacman for example. I want to deal with the fruits eating. some pseudo code :
Pacman pacman;
Fruits fruits;
if (fruits.ExistsAt(pacman.x, pacman.y)) // if pacman touches a fruit
     fruits.Eat(pacman.x, pacman.y); // make the fruit disappear
     pacman.score += 1; // grant some points

the question is in what function do i write this code? so far i've been writing it in my display function, but i feel this isnt the appropriate place

In my experience using GLUT you have two choices:

glutDisplayFunc (...);
glutIdleFunc (...);

Usually I perform animations and logic in a subroutine as first operation inside the Display callback.

Kind regards
