Logic ops in SM3?

HI guys! I just want to ask if there are any programmable logic operations being implemented on SM3 that I probably didnt realise? thx! Edwin

Do you mean bitwise operators like Exclusive-OR (XOR), AND, OR, NOT ?

If so, then no SM3 doesn't support them.


HLSL supports logic ops like "if (a<0 && b>0)". But it isn't through any special logic microcode/asm instructions - just through things like the predicate register and re-ordering maths to evaluate multiple parts of the expression at the same time.

The "Asm Shader Reference" in the SDK documents is the best place to look if you're uncertain of what is really supported by a particular shader model (versus what's achieved by the compiler doing clever stuff).
