fadeout Effect in directsound

Hi there I use DirectSound8 in my project is it possible to have a fadeout effect in my DirectSoundSecondaryBuffer8?? I know I can use DSBPOSITIONNOTIFY and setup some events and then in their callback use SetVolume for my buffer... any idea to use different method to do this? I can send you my full source code (vb) (sorry for my poor english)
