cube sky map suggestions

im putting a skymap system into my engine now, and im at a fork in the road. i can either use a single texture like debevec's cross layout for cube maps, or i can go with 6 individual textures. the cross has the advantage of using one texture therefore only one texture call. on the downside, when putting the coordinates into the cube, you have to do 1/3 and 2/3 and you get rounding errors which show up in the render. the individual textures gives the advantage of using 0 & 1 for the coordinates. on the downside though i have to make six texture calls. does anybody have any suggestions?
