Rotating an object

I have an object (class) and for simplistic purposes, it has 4 boxes. Is there a way that I could rotate the entire as a whole object 90 degrees, instead of rotating and moving each indiviual box? For example - think of the tetris L-shaped block.

Assuming that you have modeled your block around the model space origin or (0, 0, 0), then all you have to do is move the block to the origin, rotate it, then move it back.
