Hello! I was just wondering to see what everyone's opinion is on 2D Game Programming. Is it possible to just use the OpenGL API for 2D Graphics? This way, I am thinking that it would be easier to move from 2D to 3D in the future, because I'm guessing that OpenGL uses similar function names in both dimensions. I've looked at SDL a little bit, but are there any suggestions? Dylan

Most definitely pick up up SDL. It's extremely easier to get into when you're starting out and works perfectly for any 2D application you're going to be doing any time soon. Later on when you want to get into some 3D OpenGL graphics, you can also use SDL to display your OpenGL context.
