Alpha Testers Wanted for MMORPG

I am looking for 3 or 4 people at this time to alpha test a MMORPG called Rise Of Heros. Its a fantasy role playing game where the player must decide who he/she will fight for. Right now I am mostly interested in making sure the client will sign on from other computers. I am also looking for ideas on things to add. When the game goes live there will be a total of 100 maps 50 indoor and 50 out door maps. The client can be downloaded at http://www.theweatherwatch.com/riseofheros/client.rar

The server has been down all day today due to some computer problems and the fact that I was trying to get my server running for another project I am working on. The server will be back up in a few minutes if any one else wants to try it.

However please keep in mind that this is in its early stages of development and theres not much there at this time.

I've downloaded your game and I'm currently messing around in it. Here's a few observations:

It's spelled "HeroEs" ;)

The sign up and character creation process could flow better. After each step it puts you back out at the login screen.

The program doesn't show in the taskbar until you get into the game.

My warrior started out with a mage avatar.

After changing options in the option dialog my game window went to the background of all open windows. Use the form.zorder property to fix this ;)

Turning off player names hid the player names, but "Admins guild" still shows up above my avatar. I see there's a "guild tags" option, but maybe it'd be more intuitive if hiding names hides both.

It'd be cool if the shop window showed how much gold you have.

You have to continually hit the control key to attack. Maybe auto attack is in order.

The bed in the store fills your HP - cool. The one problem is that there's only one bed and avatars cannot collide. I predict many traffic jams in the future.

The store has two items: "5 gold for 1 basic short sword" and "1 basic short sword for 5 gold." They're the same item.

If the shop window is up and you switch away to an application that covers the visible play area, it is not redrawn until you close the shop window.

The basic short sword makes me insanely strong! Doing 750 damage now. Joe dies in one hit! I like it!

The basic sword has durability of 1500. It costs 1500g to repair it fully. The sword costs 5g to buy new. I can't buy a new one because it seems you can only buy one of an item? I don't quite get it.

On the "Train" menu Defense is spelled "Defence" on the image, but "Defense" in the drop-down.

With collision there's going to be LOTS of traffic jams in newb north because only one person can fit on the streets at once.

From newb north you can walk south on top of the inn.

I walked onto a map screen that doesn't exist and couldn't walk back :(

I am a member of "Admins Guild," but when I try to equip the sword it tells me "You must be a member of Admins Guild to use this item." You fixed this while I was in game, but it seems that the items are going to need careful administration.

On the map screen directly east of the first screen you begin in, I can walk right over the house.

You start with no money. This would be ok if someone told you where to find some.

Attacking is difficult because you must be touching what you're attacking.

Sometimes you get stuck in a position that a monster is attacking you but you cannot see yourself. You can't attack back.

After dying my sword wasn't equiped. I went to the inventory to equip it. Equiped it. Went to the equipment screen. The sword showed for about 2/3s of a second then disappeared. I equiped it again and it stayed.

Ok thanks to every one who helped out with this first stage of Alpha testing! I will be going back this week and working on things that people have pointed out and the next stage of alpha testing will start next friday and will go through the weekend. If any one would like to help out with designing the game then please let me know! I am in need of a coder, mapper, sprite creator, and story writer. I will also be needing in game moderators to help people once the game goes live.

Yeah I know and that other project I am about ready to give up on since I have had nothing but problems with it. I finally got my server running for it today and some how something happend to the database it was using. It stoped working pretty much as soon as it started! lol Thanks for your advice though and pretty soon this prob. will be my only project for right now any ways.

Ok well after spending the past couple days hunting for a new engine I have decided to go with VBGore for the engine. However since I have wasted the past few days I am not going to be ready for Alpha testing this coming weekend. But until you can see the progress in game heres a screen shot of the sign on screen!

In general, an Alpha test is when you believe that you have implemented all features, but haven't tested it "for real" yet (you are still passing internal tests).

A Beta test is when you believe that you've fixed all bugs you've found in internal and alpha testing.
