well.. i rented a book about C++, and it tells me to go to download these files: decpp401.zip,devcpp401.zip and insight5_win32. then it tells me to extract the files into a new place, no problem here, and then double click on SETUP.EXE, and this is were it goes wrong.. when i do so, it says something like this: C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\AUTOEXEC.NT. systemfile isnt suited to ron MS-DOS and Microsoft Windows programs. chose "close" to exit the program what am i toooo dooooo :'(

Get a new book. If it's told you to download DOS executables, then perhaps you should be reading a newer book. Your local library should either have one, or be able to get one for you relatively easily.

Other than that, download the "Dev-C++ 5.0 beta 9.2 (4.9.9.2) (9.0 MB) with Mingw/GCC 3.4.2" link on this page. That should be a Windows executable and have a normal installation process, like any other program.
