About texture of terrain.

-Mostly terrain doesn't use only one texture. -For example, there usually is a patch of grass, or a patch of stone, on the dust. -And the borderlines between them look comfortable. Is there a usual method to do this?

Several ways exist, each one with its own pros and cons. E.g.
- texture sets with tiles
- texture splatting
- MegaTextures
- procedural textures
