Hi I'm making a Pong-like game in SDL. I'm trying to implement collision detection between the ball and the paddles. my question is: should the Ball class check for collision detection? should the paddle class also check for collision? or should the "game" check for collision detection beteen the objects? thanks

The "game" should do the collision detection. Placing the collision detection code in either the paddle or the ball class (or both) creates an unwanted dependency between the two classes. Keeping the collision detection code outside the classes will allow the program to be more versatile, easier to modify, and quicker for porting into other applications (in case you want to use the ball class again for something else, for example).
