Restoring the display in dx8

i have problem restoring the display after switching windows b/w my program and the desktop can any one have an idea how to use Reset function and how to clear and restore the display memory

you can use LPDIRECTDRAWSURFACE::Restore() function to reallocate memory for your surfaces. This function knows the properties of surface, this means it is not needed to fill DDSURFACEDESC structure again.
