I have the August 2006 SDK and it doesn't have d3dx8.h, d3dx8math.h, and some other Directx8 files. Is this intentional? Does the October or December SDK have these? If not, could I just download them off someplace, or do I need libraries and other files too?

If you want DirectX 8, you'll need to download DirectX 8. The DirectX runtime is backwards-compatible, and this extends to the runtime included in the SDK, but that's purely a matter of allowing applications linked against old versions to still run. There's no provision made for people who want to use an updated SDK to develop using an old version of the API.
Oh yeah, oops, I just realized this was a dumb question. Now I just gotta find the DirectX 8 SDK.
Thanks!
