I give this guy a big hat''s off for creating his own book. I''m even gonna buy the thing because it deals with creating isometric games..which is a good idea because there was not any major books out there that dealt with the subject.

Can somebody please review this book. I know there is a lot of crap programming books out there with really cool titles that lift your hopes only to let you down miserably.

I spend ALOT of time filtering out bad books when I''m at the book store.

Btw, when I mean bad, I mean newbie type intros that don''t tell you anything worth crap. Beginning-to-intermediate suck! There''s enough of them out there. You''d expect 500+ pages to have more substance.

How do you review a book which you dont have in your hands?? One guy just spent a paragraph talking about all the crap ass books out there. I dont get it, if you cant read then rate the book, what good is it to give it good marks...according to this statement about the crappy books. Wont the great reviews for an UN-readable book only proliferate this problem?

Oh, and by the way, no one does a better job second time around if they get a bunch of reviews for first book which says its absolutely perfect...lets be real and let him improve from any mistakes before we put him up on a pedistal please.

(If you think i am bashing TAN, your wrong, you just are not up to my level of understanding)

Let me say a couple of things here.

First, publishers are not in the market to make books for experts, as they rarely buy these books to learn from. That is why it is difficult to find a book with more advanced topics. That''s just the facts and unfortunately we all have to deal with it for now.

Secondly, and I applaude Tans, and Prima publishing, for this - getting books out there that concentrate on game programming is another market that''s shakey. It''s a big risk, but if it''s going to work, they are first in line and other publishers will be scrambling to catch up. Prima has a whole line of game programming books planned, and hopefully they will continue to publish them.

Writing a book is no easy task, and it''s a major accomplishment to the author, even if the book flops. There''s so many people involved in the creation of the book that every last one want to make sure it works out and will do their best to ensure this.

As for the release date, I believe it was on time, Amazon just hadn''t received their orders yet. Mine should be in the mail right now

Lastly, I do ask that everybody that reads the book, please go to Amazon and post your comments. Many people do buy the book based on those, and in all I hope it''s a hit. Also, many of you may not realize this, but if you have the choice to buy it on amazon or go to the store and buy it, please go to the store if the price difference is very negligable. We authors end up getting a smaller cut from electronically sold copies
