D3DXInverseMatrix in VB/DX7?

Is there a way of calling it without needing to use DX8? I also have to consider that the end user may or not may have DX8 installed, so, declaring a function to the DX8 dll may be useless. Maybe if anyone knows the formula to "Inverse the Matrix"? Thanks!
