I loved those two first X-Com games: UFO and Terror From The Deep. I'm now trying to make my own UFO-sort game: The same concept, but in a new engine. Do you also love these games, or do you have some resources (bitmaps) I can use. Or do you know where a can get them typical sounds(doors, window pop-up "bwowoowow" sound etc. Or other tips and tricks, let me know! .-/303\-. Edited by - Three-Oh-Three on March 19, 2001 3:15:18 PM

I love those games. Working on one heavily inspired by them myself (see sig). Sadly the series only got worse with each new release and turn based tactical squad games are all but dead nowadays...

Life would be much easier if I had the source code.

Guys -

I run an XCom site here, it should have some useful stuff for you... (aren''t you lucky I came along )

http://www.tacticalplanet.com/xcom

I''m also writing an iso engine in VB6, which will be VERY much like XCom, but ''bigger'' (for example I have a 40 story high building built at the moment for my prototype). I came here to look for an old post I remember from ages ago, which talked about how not to blit tiles which you aren''t going to see - the prototype runs fine on both my P200 and Dur800 while looking at only one level, but when you have the height offset to about 3 or 4, it kills my Dur800... =/

Good luck with your games! =)

yeah those games did rock...and turnbased is NOT dead

hehe the windows sound-scheme robots had the perfect "bowow" sound, for menu events
check it out!
