I was wondering if using the C programming for Dummies book is a good way to start learning C. I am using windows 98 and whenever I run an executable program I wrote, it opens a DOS prompt. Is this normal, and after I complete the book, would it be alright to switch to windows programming? Am I taking the right steps into learning C, however? THANKS!

i''d rather prefer K&R''s <the C Programming Language> 2nd edition, with ANSI Ref Manual
