parallax mapping to avoid popping artifact?

would using a accurate parallax mapping technique (ex. reilef mapping) completely remove the popping artifacts in terrain rendering... aside from silhouette popping... since terrain is mostly planar i thought it would be pretty cheap to implement parallax mapping for this... any thoughts on this before i sit down and try to code this...

yes i think that is possible(i was thinking about that too), but you may need one heightmaps for each LOD-Level.

Or you could create a worldspace heightmap for the parallax mapping and do your calculations in worldspace(this only works for heightmapped terrain[terrain without overhangs])
