ifstream (how to get it working)

I have ported my code from VisualStudio 6 to Visual Studio .NET and this piece of code is giving me errors ifstream fptr(filename, ios::in | ios::binary); here is the error... 'ifstream' : undeclared identifier so I added this line of code using namespace std; then i get this error 'fptr' uses undefined class 'std::basic_ifstream<_Elem,_Traits>' with [ _Elem=char, _Traits=std::char_traits<char> ] so can anyone help me with this? btw using visual studio .NET c++ on win xp
