I call the IDirect3D9::CreateDevice method in a DLL... and it fails. The error code returned is D3DERR_DRIVERINTERNALERROR. However if I change from using the D3DDEVTYPE_HAL in the CreateDevice call to D3DDEVTYPE_REF to use the reference rasterizer then the call (appears) to succeed. The setup parameters are all valid as I copied them from my working engine. Any ideas... ?
