Materials in FX Composer

Hi, I just tried the Nvidia FX Composer but there is something I dont understand. On the left side is a panel called "Materials". In my mind a material is a combination of different lighting parameters like diffuse, ambient, specular and shininess to controll the lighting stage. But obviously Nvidia has a different imagination of a "material". Is a material in FX Composer just an "Shader Effect"? Or a FX File? Or something else? :(

IIRC, you have one material per FX file. Within that material, you can select the technique and adjust all of the individual parameters.

The use of "material" is pretty arbitrary in graphics, so it's good to have a more open definition of it. It's no longer just the diffuse/specular/ect colors - now you have actual shaders playing into them, too.
