RID WM_INPUT etc... need help

Hello. I am trying to move away from Direct Input and regular WM_* to WM_INPUT. I looked on the MSDN for the lib and headers needed for it and all it said was include windows.h. I tried this and it doesn't work. I am getting error codes that say everything to do with the RID and such are undeclared. I am using an empty project from MSVS 2003. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

WM_INPUT is only available on Windows XP and greater. This means that before including windows.h you need to tell the API that you are developing an application that will have a minimum OS requirement of Windows XP (that is, Windows NT 5.1). To do this add the following before including windows.h

#define _WIN32_WINNT 0x0501
