I used Delphi for a game, it was even commerciall.

I'm switching to C++ for my next engine, but it has nothing to with Delphi's incompetence, i just preffer C++ for such a project, after I studied it in depth. I still use Delphi for some quickly made applications. I think Delphi win's over C++ or even C# when you need to rapidly develop a small helper application.

I've heard that FreePascal is actually pretty good for porting Delphi software as long as it doesn't use the native GUI of Windows. There's an OpenGL plug-in for it as well.

Yes, there are plenty of people still using Pascal (Delphi or FreePascal) to make games. Including myself. :)

But, if you are really interested in developing games with Delphi/Pascal, the best place to read about it would be www.pascalgamedevelopment.com.
It's an active and friendly community, with quite a few members supporting eachother with their projects, code problems or simply to share helpful tips and hints.

Incidentally, now may the best time to visit, as PGD is currently running it's 3rd annual competition, themed MultiPlexity. Activity is now higher than ever as many of the competitors have their own thread with projectinformation, screenshots and even videos about their competition entries.
