hii.. i need to calculate the Memory Bandwidth of my graphics card..i m using Directx 9.0c (June 2006) and Visual Studio 2005,(programming in VC++). I know of one way how to calulate it, by using the GPU Memory Clock Speed and the GPU Memory Bus width...but the problem is that i dont know how to extract these parameters.. Can anyone pls tell me how to get those 2 parameters or another method to calculte the memory bandwidth of the graphics card...

anyways..is there any other way apart from direct3d to calculate it...
if u've used evrest, they are able to diaplay the memory bandwidth...

there is no way to caclulate it... becuse there is no reason to need to.

There ae so many optimizations, and swapouts to regular ram, etc, that it wouldn't give you a reliable metric.

You probably can't use d3d to do it; my guess is that you'd have to interact with the physical card through the kernel somehow. Take a look at the systems/driver programming guides for win32.

Look at the techincal specs for your graphics card. Most cards have a spec on the manufactures website.

@jeremymm: That was pretty worthless advice. He needs it on different computers he's running his software on.

@OP: You'll never get a realistic value. I actually had code that returned sizes from 32mb (it was a 128mb card) to 1GB (had 2GB of physical RAM). I used multiple techniques. But remember a lot of things can be using all of the video memory and it will still report the total memory not the available.
