I was wondering if someone could suggest a really good book on Python for me to buy. Im looking for a book that covers all of Python for someone who has really no experiance in programming. Ive been messing around with various online tutorials but I think Id be better off with a real book. Im hoping to find a book that covers all aspects of programming with Python from the bare basics all the way to advanced techniques. Im aware that there isnt always one book that covers everything so if you have multiple suggestions thats fine too. I know that learning by doing is the best way so a book with end of chapter exercises would be awesome. Keep in mind that my ultimate goal is programming video games so I want to eventually get there.. thanks in advance

The one my python class used was "Python Programming: An Introduction To Computer Science" but then again....I don't remember any Python. So just take that into consideration. :|

I'm going through this book right now and it's pretty good so far and fun since it's game programming oriented.

I was considering this book

do you think its a bad idea for a beginner to learn from a book thats teaches through game creation?
I am in the exact same position as you, and after seeing the various posts here, I too have started with Python. Atm, I am using this book

ahh I was considering that book as well, but some of the reviews said its not the best book for a complete newbie. They may be wrong who knows
