I'm trying to write a small game for my Pocket PC using Direct3D Mobile. I have a Dell Axim X51v, and I use D3DMXCreateTextureFromFileEx() to load in my textures. The problem is, it doesn't seem to work correctly. I've tried .bmp, .png and .tga files, and out of those 3 the only one that doesn't return an error is .bmp. With .png and .tga, the function returns 0x88760b59 which, according to the header files and documentation, isn't even a valid error code. I suspect that it's D3DMXERR_INVALIDDATA, although according to d3dmxerr.h and d3dm.h no such value exists. Has anyone else had success in using D3DMX to load in texture formats other than .bmp? The documentation says that it supports .bmp, .dds, .dib, .jpg, .png, and .tga, but since the function is spewing phantom error codes I'm not too willing to trust the documentation completely.

The docs are wrong. The only image formats currently supported are .dib, .bmp, and .dds.
