Voice deformation?

Recommended Posts

I read through the sticky's about audio software and they were very usefull in getting me started quickly, but I'm still looking for some specialised (and if possible simple/user-friendly) voice deformers or deformers in general. I don't want to make a full audio track, only a couple of simple FX, wich consist mostly of spoken catchphrases. However because my own voice sounds so dull and completely unfunny, I want to play around with it a bit and see if I can find the sound/voice I need. I was hoping for some suggestions on good deformers or possibly even specialised voice deformers?

What do you mean by "voice deformers"? Magix Music Maker and FL Studio both have synthesized voices, where you can type in a phrase and the program attempts to read it back in various voices. It's hilarious because they suck. However, some of the phrases in FL Studio may be useful to include in electronica.

There are also vocoders, ring modulators and talk boxes, which are effects related to the human voices and speech sounds. You can try apply foreign effects such as these to your own voice and seeing the effect that occurs.

The talk box is an effect that fascinates me. Unfortunately I haven't found a local music store that actually sells one.

Actually I mean applying a deformation to my own recorded voice. In one of the Sticky's I found a simple program wich lets me adjust pitch and speed, but little else, I was wondering what other kind of sound deformers are out there.

I'm not really at home in the big music programs, but I hoped there may be some simpeler programs out there, especially suited to deforming sounds.
