Hi! Everyone, Is it possible to use 3ds as full world editor? I mean not only modelling, but also placing hero and enemies; and other objects like tree(2d image!!). Is there anyone who have used 3ds as world editor in his game. After placing, I want to parse them from 3ds files? Thanks.

The simplest way is to just place objects around (Be they meshes or dummy objects) with predictable names such as 'obj_tree_01' or 'player_start'.

Then, when you load up the level, just check the start of each object name. If it starts with 'obj_tree', for example, you'd remove that mesh and replace it with a tree sprite at the same coordinates.

There are also more complex methods such as writing plugins, using the User Data field or having an external program used for object placement exclusively.
