Extracting Normal & Spec Map from .x File

I do not know if it is entirely possible, but I am looking to see if a .X mesh file stores a normal and specular texture in its file? I thought I read somewhere that it does store that information, but I cannot figure out how to access it if it is possible. What I do right now is when I create a mesh (in 3DSMax for example) I define a sub-material property, and put my regular, normal map and spec map in there to export out into the .X mesh file, then I can access all 3 textures and assign them into my shader in code.
