C++: *FAST* 64-bit compares on ia32

On ia32 architecture, what is the fastest and most potentially portable (between "modern" 32-bit variants) method of doing a lot of back-to-back 64-bit compares? If I compare two int64 values for equality, can I count on the compiler to optimize it for me?

Look atthe dissasembly and find out? But generally, yes.
