Tanky-Tank: multiplayer action game
Hi all,
I'm looking for people to test and provide feedback on a game that I've been developing with a number of friends in our spare time. It's called Tanky-Tank, and it is a networked-multiplayer top-down shooter. We've been working on it when we could for nearly two years now, and I feel that it's time for more people to test it out.
To download, visit http://www.flyingfuzz.com/tanky-tank. And yes, I know the website is unprofessional. ;-)
There are screenshots and how-to-play instructions at the above link.
There are a number of areas that need improvement, notably the A.I., some graphics, and more game modes. But the game is still very playable, and we have a lot of fun playing it over LAN.
Most errors you encounter that result in an error message can be automatically reported to me by clicking on the link in the error message box. Please provide any other feedback you have in this thread.
Thanks all!
Hi,
Tried the game - seems very promising. I must have missed something in the instructions though, because each time my tank spawned, my health would immediately drop (over a period of about 5 seconds) until the tank self-destructed. I was probably just doing something stupid, but maybe you could clarify this aspect of the game. You're only supposed to lose health when you take damage, right?
Two other minor notes:
1. You might consider not having the load screen and menu screen 'overlap'. While the assets are loading the menu response is very sluggish (which is to be expected). I think it'd be better just to let the player wait until loading is complete, and then proceed to the menu screen.
2. It's a little hard to tell sometimes what is and is not an obstacle (I've run into this problem in my own 2D games). I didn't notice if there were any shadow effects - if there aren't, adding them might make the play area 'read' a bit better.

Your health isn't supposed to go down like that, unless your on lava. Perhaps you were playing on the "Lavaland" map? If not then this is some strange bug.
Good maps to learn the game on are Grassland and Volcano Island.
Thanks for the feedback!

Quote:Original post by Holy FuzzIt was probably lava (the map was 'Death Zone'), but for whatever reason I didn't pick up on it at the time.

A 'lava' sound effect or animated graphic might make this more clear, but I realize animating a screen's worth of lava might not be practical, graphics-wise.
