.net framework and d3d

when I setup directx 9.0c 2006,and it prompt me: you must setup .net framework first and pop a .net framework setup window. Does not .net has nothing to do with directx?

DirectX is a native OS-level component but it does have a set of .NET-accessible interfaces - "Managed DirectX."

If you're not using/developing .NET applications you don't need the MDX parts of the runtime. It all depends who built the installer as to which files are listed for installation...
