Light Space Perspective Shadow Maps help

I've been reading up on perspective shadow maps and am a little confused about how to apply the perspective matrix. When building and projecting the shadow map, do you transform your geometry into this space, then into light space? ex. WorldMatrix * NewPerspectiveMatrix * LightViewMatrix * LightProjectionMatrix Sorry for the noobness, somethings just not clicking in my brain.
