2D Texture of size 512*1 (say) and 176*41 (say)

can we have a 2d texture of size 512*1 ? so it's basically the same as an array? also can we have non powers of 2 texures ? say 176*41 on modern nvidia cards ? cheers

NPOT is part of GL 2.0 (2.1 is current version)
You can use them like any other texture.
For example, upload with glTexImage2D(GL_TEXTURE_2D, 0, GL_RGBA8, 25, 89, 0, GL_BGRA, GL_UNSIGNED_BYTE, mypixels);

have you checked 1D textures?
