someone on my last post told me to use an easier free engine before buying the torque engine. 1. Do you know any engines that are free (not a trial or demo version)that is good? 2. Is it possable to get maya for free? (full version too) if so where.

1. I've heard good things about Ogre3D, but not recently...
2. Not legally, no.

You seem to ask a lot of questions about Maya. Maya is a great tool.

But not for you.

The kind of questions you ask suggest that you wouldn't even be able to use it if you could afford it (the full version is expensive, although there are educational versions you can obtain (possibly for free, I'm not sure, check out their website) that have limited licenses. You don't seem to have the appropriate background knowledge in the field of 3D modelling.

It is consequently a better idea to get a tool that is much cheaper (such as Blender, which is free, or Milkshape which is very affordable at $30), and use that to familiarize yourself with the basics of modelling. Spending thousands, or even hundreds, of dollars on a tool that you can't use to the fullest is not smart.

Just because the pros use a certain tool doesn't mean you have to, or should.

Last time I checked there was a free educational version which rendered watermarked images, and only exported an educational-only file format.

I too, suggest trying something else. When learning to model, I used a nifty program called Anim8or, which has gotten better since I last used it (though nowhere near Maya or 3DS Max :P).

Do you actually read the replies to your threads? I posted your best option in your other thread.
