Pre-release CellZenith Demo [ UPDATED ]
CellZenith Demo 1.5: The Pre-release Demo
This demo displays the game in its almost-completed state. The design is complete; all that remains is to make some more worlds (though I am by all means still open to any suggestions or criticism!) This demo features a huge number of improvements over the previous demo, as described in the list of features below.
As I explained in my post of the previous demo, I have been working on this game for a few years. This game is a unique simulation/top-down shooter with some minor strategy elements. I wrote this in Visual C++ 2005 with made-from-scratch DirectX9 framework.

Changes and New Improvements:
- In-game customizable keyboard controls
- The demo comes as a setup.exe, which handles the updating of d3dx components for you (you must still already have
DirectX9.0c installed, however.)
- New minigame!
- Extensive in-game Help menu which offers detailed information about the objective of the game, how to command friendlies
and your Carrier, and other subjects.
- The old paralyzer secondary weapon has been replaced with the special new blue phyta crystals, special powerups
which give the player various secondary weapons.
- Commanding friendlies has been made easier in various ways. For example, a friendly being commanded has a
bright indicator drawn around it, and every friendly in the game has its command key (F1 to F10) printed directly on it (see the pictures above.)
- This demo features the game's finalized sound-design.
- Hugely improved interface for setting up Instant Action battles.
- Three new maps to fight on
- In the Cellshop, you can now preview all the special cells which will be available in the full game.
- Many, many bug fixes have been applied, particularly in AI navigation.
- FCarrier cells are no longer armed, which helps make the gameplay more balanced.

I just updated the demo of CellZenith. Version 1.5D has several new changes:
- Players can now access the Campaign feature and play the first Campaign missions.
- When you command your Carrier or another friendly, it now appears as a white dot on the radar. This is very useful for figuring out where specific friendlies are.
- Smoothed out a minor camera bug,
- Fixed a commanding friendlies bug.
- Simplified the HUD (reduced the size of corner graphics and removed unnecessary information) to make it less crowded.
Please try it out and post what you think in the devimg.net thread!

I've istalled and played your game.
It's fun but controls are a bit... difficult. (I was using the keyboard).

If you have any ideas for better default controls, please feel free to tell me, because I almost often get this reaction about my default keyboard controls and I am at a loss to come up with better ones.
In case you didn't know, you can press 'M' during the game to switch control of your turret to the mouse (several people prefer this method.)
Or you can pick your own keyboard controls - this is one of the primary new features in this demo.
