3d sphere

this is a simple question i think but i just cant seem to find the problem. i had a glutSolidSphere on the screen and it looked proper (in 3d with shading and all). when i added a texture to another object the sphere now looks like a circle and its colour is the same as some colour in the texture.

yeah it was GL_TEXTURE_2D not being disabled somewhere. cheers. cant believe i missed that one :)
another quick question about the glutSolidSphere, how you wrap a texture around it?
