Hello! I want to draw a 3d ring object. I tried to do it with nurbs, but then i just have the lines and I still have to fill the object. I want to use curves to draw the ring. What I have is a point list. I would be gratefull for every tip...

I'm not sure if your using MDX or not, but there is a Mesh.Torus method that creates a mesh in the shape of a ring.

I'm not using mdx. An have to build it by myself, because the ring object need to have a small opening (it's a piston ring).

Most (consumer) 3D graphics hardware doesn't support curves natively so you'll have to render your ring as triangles if you want a solid shape.

You say you have a point list, but what do those points represent? Do you know anything about their topology or is it effectively a random point cloud?

If they represent some sort of higher order surface control point (you mention NURBS?), then instead of splines/curves, you need to look into forming those into 'surfaces' then tesselating/triangulating into triangular polygons for rendering.

You may be able to make some use of ID3DXPatchMesh to do the tesselation for you.
