I want to display desktop in opengl
You must get a little bit clearer about what you want. Do you want to show actual desktop snapshot in OpenGL?
You need to stop asking the same question in 3 different threads else people are going to start getting really ticked off. You need to go into much more detail and tell us why you need to do that etc before we can help you.

I have created an opengl application using nehe help pages which draws a 2d arrow
between two points over a black background.
I want to show my dekstop in my application background so that it will look that i am drawing an arrow over dekstop.
