triangle question

I'm trying to make a triangle whose vertices are A(15, 0, 30), B(0, 15, 30), and C(0, 0, 60) in OpenGL. This works as far as trying to draw a triangle: glBegin(GL_TRIANGLES); glVertex3f( 0.0f, 1.0f, 0.0f); glVertex3f(-1.0f,-1.0f, 0.0f); glVertex3f( 1.0f,-1.0f, 0.0f); glEnd(); But when I put the coordinates from A, B, C in the glVertex3f function, I get nothing. What am I doing wrong? Also, I've seen code to compute the unit normal of a triangle, but I'm still trying to figure out how to do it by hand, could someone show me. Thanks, Jason

1) is your camera pointing at that triangle?

2) if so, is the triangle within the view frustum?

3) if so, are you drawing the winding correctly? i.e. generally openGL will not draw triangles that are either clockwise winding or counter-clockwise winding so that it doesn't draw backfaces.

4) do you have lighting enable but have no light in your scene?

Could be any number of things really. Post your render code (including the setup code) inside of [source] [/source] tags.

I am not sure on some of those things, I followed the code from here:

Hello.

This is your current set up:

1) your camera is a 0,0,0.
2) your camera can 'see' from 0.1 units infront of it, to 100 units - as set up by the following line of code:

gluPerspective(45.0f,(GLfloat)width/(GLfloat)height,0.1f,100.0f);

BUT
3) your triangle, is 0.0 units distance away from the camera.

Essentially, your camera cannot "see" the triangle, because it is too close to the camera (inside the near clip plane). Bear in mind by default the camera looks down the negative z-axis.

Solve this by:

1) Altering the depth - so that the triangle is rendered within the view frustum

glBegin(GL_TRIANGLES);
glVertex3f( 0.0f, 1.0f, -1.0f);
glVertex3f(-1.0f,-1.0f, -1.0f);
glVertex3f( 1.0f,-1.0f, -1.0f);
glEnd();

Or, as from the tutorial, you missed out the line:

glTranslatef(-1.5f, 0.0f, -6.0f);

glBegin(GL_TRIANGLES);
glVertex3f( 0.0f, 1.0f, 0.0f);
glVertex3f(-1.0f,-1.0f, 0.0f);
glVertex3f( 1.0f,-1.0f, 0.0f);
glEnd();

Hope that helps.
