Is there a Laptop that uses destop parts???

Hello All,
I am currently in the market for a Laptop. The main feature I want in my laptop is the ability to use AM2 desktop processors in them.
I have a AM2 desktop, and as I upgrade my desktop CPU, I'd like to put the old processor in the laptop. It would be a cost saving cycle.
I don't care about anything (size, weight, ect) as long as it is easily upgradeable with desktop parts.
I've just never seen a laptop with desktop CPU's. Is this only something I could dream up and doesn't exist? A barebones shell would be amazing. I'd like to plop my amd 3500 into it and upgrade my desktop.

Making a laptop out of desktop parts is easy. Carry a generator and your case/monitor around with you. The reason you don't see high end desktop parts in laptops (and the reason that you can't just shove desktop parts into a laptop) is two fold. Firstly power consumption. Desktop cpu's typically require alot of power and they also produce alot of heat, which leads to the second problem. Laptops are just too compact to have extreme cooling with large heatsinks and fans, not to mention that the power to run the cooling would link back to the first problem of power consumption.

Hi, I have no desire to run my laptop off the battery. I work from home, and do traveling. I would be using a power outlet 99% of the time. I don't mind if the sucker is 15 pounds. As long as I don't have to buy a new laptop every 2-3 years.
So, does a laptop exist that uses desktop parts?
My other option was to build a micro PC desktop and rig up a laptop screen on it.

This really isn't too far off from what I was looking for. A nice professional look and not a welded case would be nice.
