Newer CG - Lower FPS?

I've upgraded to CG 1.5. My current application just dropped in about 30 FPS. How could this be? I would have thought that newer CG will result in better performance.. Is this possible that the opposite is the case?

I will try to be more specific: When sending varying parameters to my CG program as TEXCOORD1-TEXCOORD7, the FPS drops by 30. If I'm sending the same parameters using the multitexture arb extension, the FPS rises back up. Why is that? I'm trying to figure it out...
