Hi, popping out a little thought. Say, I wanted to started a web-based game store. The technical side wouldn't give that many (if at all) problems, nor am I interested in the paperwork right now. My questions are mainly about the actually trade here. Let's say the business plan would be to sell Mac games (that is, Mac versions from Aspyr and Ambrosia etc as well as cross-platform games from Blizzard for example) at the lowest profitable price point. Here are some questions: 1. Where do these game come from? I'd supposed the publisher, but just checking. 2. In what kind of quantities/prices do these come? I've heard like 5000 items at around $30, is that correct? 3. Assume I wanted this store as a part-time thing running from home, can I offset those kind of amounts or would it possible to work with lower quantities? As you can see I'm not really into this world. I don't have any concrete plans on doing this either, just checking how viable this is. Thanks for any comments!

Sijmen,
You'd be competing with all the other online game stores, so why don't you begin by analyzing their business models?

I don't think that you'd be able to compete on price without the ability to buy in bulk. Remember that you also have to cover the cost of packing supplies and your whole infrastructure. "You have to spend money to make money"

Otherwise, yes you buy directly from the publisher but that may require a special business contract with the publisher.
