Lets say I wish to make a game addon based on a game. Lets say I recieve permission to do it. Is it possible to have a installer do the following; * Insert Disc; Installer renames 'Game2004' to 'Game2004Original' * Installer requests original discs installation of 'Game2004' * Game2004 installs a fresh new 'Game2004' next to the original, untouched becuase it is renamed. * Place installer CD back in * Installer renames 'new' 'Game2004' to 'Game202X' * Installer renames 'Game2004Original' back to 'Game2004' * Installer completes installing of new media into 'new' 'Game202X' * Installer completes with supplying new icons for 'new' gamepack 'Game202X' Done.. My question is; Can an installer go in and rename existing folders, and then rename them back again? Of course this could only be done with permissions being granted. Not to worry there. It would be expected to be a large game release, so all legalities would be covered. I just dont know if this is possible for an installer to go in and do the work I need for it to do. LH

Well, it depends on the capabilities of the installer, does it not? Most games that support mods or add-ons have a mechanism in place to do this anyway. It is usually just a matter of putting the new content in a specific place.
