I'm looking for a powerful (and more importantly, hardware accelerated) 2D library such as BlitzMax, but I don't want to use BlitzBasic to write my code. I do like the fact that BlitzMax/BlitzBasic supports all three major platforms (Windows, Mac OS, and Linux), but coding in BlitzBasic makes me feel yucky inside :) I know that a couple of libraries exist for C++ but I really like how quickly you can get setup in BlitzMax/BlitzBasic and just start coding. I also like how memory is automatically managed for you. So, maybe what I'm looking for is a powerful, hardware accelerated, 2D library for a scripting language (that can be compiled into an executable file). Does anything like this exist? I'm basically looking for BlitzMax/BlitzBasic but for Python/Lua. :)
