Recommended Posts

Hello (new to VS/C#) I'm wonderring if there is a namespace/package/class or whatnot out there for reading and writing PDF files? Same for CFM files? Thanks in advance, L-

Nope.

PDF is proprietary to Adobe. There are tools out there that will create PDF format files, such as the converters in GhostScript, LaTeX, and others, which you can call from your app. I believe that Adobe's tools ($) have a COM interface you could use in their Acrobat SDK.

If you want to modify your CFM file (I presume this is a scripting format) you'll have to figure it out yourself, search for an external app that generates it, or reverse engineer the format yourself.

I'm afraid I could only find expensive solutions as far as displaying PDF went.

You can stick a WebBrowser control on a form and point that at a PDF, and that will display it (assuming the user has a PDF plugin installed).

You'd have better luck looking at XPS. If you have to work with PDF, though, I'm not sure what you could do. A freeware PDF printer could be used, I suppose?
