cgSetParameter2f within glBegin()

can someone verify the source of this trouble im having. basicly, each of my triangles has a float2 associated with it to define its specular lighting properties, and im looping through a list of triangles using a single texture so that its with a glBegin(GL_TRIANGLES); and it seems that as a result of already being within the glBegin, cgSetParameter2f will not work is that true?
