Who plays your game?

Recommended Posts

How much do you know about who plays your game? What kind of a person would play your game? If you could ask them one question what would it be? What would you like to know about the guy who plays your game?

I think mostly hippie free-thinker types, artsy-fartsy types, and dungeon/basement dwellers will play my game. That's a good thing; that's my target audience.

My question for them would be, "what set of features which current multiplayer RPGs that do not exist, which contribute to a realistic and roleplay-centric environment, would you most like to see in my game?".

Mostly I'd like to know if the player is out to enjoy the game for what I intend it to be, or if he is going to try to fit it into a category different than that which I had in mind.

Right now... my kids. The only audience I will ever essentially need.

Then when it's good enough for them, I'll release to the public. Where I suspect that many creepy old dudes who haven't grown up out of the 80's will worship me like a god... or not, you know.

I'd ask them to provide content... because I'm lazy. I'd play the "if you wnat to see it in the game, then you draw it and I'll jam it in in the next release".

I'm going one better - if you want to see it in the game, then add it yourself and make it available as a plugin. Modular content design and all that.

Mind you, I'm not remotely close to done yet...
