I have some games with sourcecode, made with GDI. The sprites use the well-known MAGENTA (to indicate total transparency on screen). The code specifies clearly that only color 255,0,255(= Magenta) should work for transparency yet I analyzed a sprite in Photoshop and found its "Magenta" to be only 252,0,252- ***and it still works***. Why?

Uhh...

Wanna post the loader source code? The renderer source code? A link to a sample image for us to test?

With the information you provided it could be roughly 1,000,000,000x10^1000000 different things allowing the image to work. In other words, you're going to need to provide more information and samples if you want us to provide an insightful answer.

Cheers!
