I really want to learn how to make tile based game. Searched for tutorials on google but no luck. I found one at http://www.ccpssolutions.com/ but it's kind of old, and I want to make the hero movement smoother, not tile by tile. So does anyone know any websites that can help me a lot in tile based game?

Thanks for the link! But it doesn't help me for now, because I don't really quite understand the concept of making a tile based game..

Anyway, this question may sound a bit stupid, but I just have to ask because I'm too noob T.T

I found these data structures at http://awiki.tomasu.org/AllegroTileMaps. Now I want to know how to actually USE them in loading and rendering map. I'm not familiar with data structures.

I think you should try reading a few more tutorials. These give you the theory on tile engines.

http://petesqbsite.com/sections/tutorials/gamedesign.shtml#2

Then if you want to implement the same theory in your code, look at the program or a library function to help you with that.

LazyFoo has put together some nice SDL tutorials that deal with game concepts in general on his site *click here*. While not directly related to tile based games they will all come in handy for any game you decide to make.
